I was the same way when I worked midnights. It's hard to sleep in the day time. And, it would always make me feel more tired when I would think that all the NORMAL people were home sleeping...

I've worked days for the past 4 years. I hated it at first. It was hard to get used to after spending 20+ years on 3rd shift...now, I like it.

I hd this problem, too. Working nights and sleeping days, even when I slept 7-10 hours, it wasn't getting a good deep sleep cycle. I talked to my doctor about it. He suggested that I hang curtains in my room that block out light from outside, make the room as dark as possible and try to do something to block out as much noise as possible. So I changed the curtains, which helped but didn't block all light. So, I bought a sleep mask. I found a comfortable one in the travel/luggage section at Walmart. It is shaped, so it doesn't squish my eyes, and fits properly around my nose to block all light. Then I got one of those sound machines that plays white noise. Mine has ocean sounds, forest sounds, heartbeat sounds, and rain sounds. I set it on rain sounds at a level that blocks most other sounds, but not enough to keep me awake. And at times I will use Tylenol PM if I have trouble dropping off, and my Dr. also suggested melatonin supplements. The key is to make sure that the sleep you are getting is good sleep. If you do not get a deep REM cycle sleep, you may sleep 7 hours and feel as if you haven't slept at all.
