You could choose your family doctor or personal physician.
But there is no question of choosing a doctor where specialist treatment is required.
The doctor reccomended by the family doctor or the hospital to which we go will do the physical examinatin.
All we could do is to pray that the specialist is an expert.
Question of the gender of the specialist doctor does not come into consideration at all.

Honestly I rather have a doctor the opposite sex. From all the doctors I have met the female doctors seem to be more professional. I feel the male doctors try to be overly compassionate toward their patients. Sometimes in order to do your best you have to put compassion aside.

  • I had a physical for the Army a month ago, the doctor was female and she was very professional. I would definitely go with the opposite sex again.

The only thing that I didn't feel comfortable with was the male who had to survey my physical. He just sat and watched me, very awkward.

I have a male ENT, a female Endo, a female gynie, a male GP....
If the physician is good, what does it matter if they are male or female?

Oh yeah, all of my physicians understand evolution, they would not allow a pharmacist to determine what drugs are morally unacceptable for me, and they do not preach to me about morality.
Healthcare should not be a pulpit for religious extremism.

I have had both. I had surgery done by a great female doc at the VA in Pbgh and then had 2 different female docs in my area. One was great but too busy to see me when I wanted the second one couldn't be trusted with changing dog kennels. My opinion as a person who ended up with a viral infection. I actually prefer women for everything. Men are cocky and arrogant,(sometimes)

I have no real preference, as long as the doctor is competent. For a while, I thought I would only want to see a female ob/gyn, but then I saw that the women can sometimes be more obnoxious (and catty) than the men!

Anyway, these days, there are so many more female ob/gyn docs that it's difficult to find a male one even if you want to.
