Ping-Pong is a trademark name for table tennis equipment and accessories. Those who take the game seriously prefer 'table tennis'.
The game was also marketed under such names as Gossima, Flim Flam, Whiff Waff, and Whip-Whap (not sure of spelling/hyphenation of that last) in the rising popularity from its introduction in the 1880s through 1922, when the Ping-Pong Association changed its name to the Table Tennis Association.
i thought they named it ping pong because of the sound of it......think about it
