  • A teenager with mood swings? I don't believe it!!! Honestly though, I wouldn't worry about it too much, as long as your moods are not to the point of being self destructive. At your age it is very common to have ups and downs as your body tries to adjust to the changes it is going through. If they do get to the point though where you are extremely depressed or feeling suicidal, I would see your doctor and explain your problem. They can direct you to the best help.
  • Make an appointment ASAP with a psychologist or psychiatrist for an evaluation. The longer it goes untreated regardless of the cause, the longer it will take to get under control. Once they know what you are battling, there are many ways for you to get relief from the symptoms. Good luck!
  • i was told a mild birth control pill does the trick for some girls. does anyone know anything about this?
  • It is good that you recognize there is something not right! Here is my suggestion... Go to your family doctor and get checked for any imbalance with your thyroid, it can have the similar symptoms. Hypothyroidism affect many young women and it can have the same affects as depression and other mental health issues. If after getting checked you find that all is well then visit a psychiatrist. Good luck honey!
  • Well you can try looking up depression and panic disorder...they have certain test and advice about it on the net just google those too it helped me a little. My finace actually asked me if I was bipolar the other day and it freaked me out because i've never had that problem before so I'm just tryint to get advice and I plan on going to a famiy docotr and talking about it. It is common for young women to have different chemical imbalances or your just really stressed. Try not to let little things get to you or other people I know teenage life can be hard and stressful expecially with the way kids are so harsh these days. Take it easy and try talking to someone. GOOD LUCK!
  • Get to a doctor---psychologist or psychiatrist or even your family doctor. You are only 17, and researching it will not do you any good since you don't have the skills to diagnose yourself.
  • I agree with most posters that you should see a doctor, but I will however throw my 2 cents in about self-diagnosis. Not everyone who is bi-polar, or depressed, or whatever disease you can think of fits every single symptom on the laundry lists that are attached to it. That's part of why self-diagnosis can be so dangerous (especially when paired with self-mediciation). I happen to be bipolar and was miss diagnosed as ADHD until I was in my mid-twenties. I think its because, at the time most doctors were loathe to saddle a teenager with a label like bipolar. Oh well, I'm much better now and you will be too (PS don't feel like we're talking down to you but I remember when I was a teenager I felt like I was being ripped apart by the roller coaster of emotions that come with teenage hormones!)
