If you are only getting sound from one set of speakers, then it could be that your speakers are fried. However, you can plug your speakers into another unit and they test out fine, then it could be that your audio card is fried. If your audio card is an add-in card, then it's simple enough to replace. If it's on-board audio, then disable the audio controller in the BIOS when you add the new audio card.
