I do want to move up in rank - which means help more people. I like to think that getting points is an indication that my answers are being read and are helping. In as much as rank = helping people it is good.
I recently became level 50 Sage.
I participate on some other Q & A sites where there is no indication what-so-ever that the answers are ever read. I spend a lot less time on them because of that. It seems like I might as well just write answers on a piece of paper and burn them in the fireplace. At least they will keep me warm,

1) On Answerbag, there are various Leaderboards which give the rank of leading users, questions or answers.
The main Leaderboard is the all time list of the leading users ordered by points. If not further specified, your Answerbag Rank is your rank (ordering number) in this main Leaderboard.
2) You can find your rank on your private profile:
http://www.answerbag.com/profile/
You find it on the right margin, in the "my points" section. Your rank is displayed and there is a link to the page of the "all time" "most points" leaderboard where you are.
At the end of the "my points" section, there is also a link "See leaderboard" to the top of the "last week" "most points" Leaderboard.
3) On the Leaderboard page, you find first the "last week" "Most Points" Leaderboard.
Click on "all time" to get the "all time" version of this leaderboard.
On the right margin, you will find links to various other leaderboards:
"Most Points
Most Inquisitive
Most Answers
Most popular questions
Questions with most answers
Most Moderation Points
Members with the best answers
Members with the best questions "
Here again there is an "all time"and a "last week" version.
Each leaderboard get updated once a week on Sunday.
3) Level and rank are two different things. When you get more points, you reach higher levels. To get from one level to the next, you need a particular amount of points, which is higher with growing level.
On the other side, you can only get a higher rank if you get more points than other users.
4) My level is 69 at the moment. Your level is 3 at the moment.
My rank is 64 at the moment. Your rank is > 1000 at the moment, so you are not yet on the all time most points leaderboard.

lvl 5 contributor, so yes, it would be nice to rise a bit. Not as much because of the higher lvl though, but it would be nice to be able to give (and take) more points. Plus, I sometimes feel that people don't reply as much to a lvl 5 guy who can max give 2 points, as they do to someone at a higher lvl.
