  • what kind of debt are you talking. If you have student loans, they can be deferred. If you have credit cards, sometimes they will work with you on a repayment plan. you could try bill consolidation but that will usually cost you more in fees than it would have costed you to began with. you could always file bankruptcy. If you do it while you are pregnant, you are considered unemployed technically. It's not the best thing and it will affect your credit BUT if your bills go past due it will affect your credit anyway and you could lose your house, car, etc. plus when you go back to work, they could garnish your checks..baby or not. At least with bank. you know you won't have to pay those bills at all and will have a fresh start for you and your baby and within 6 months or so, you will start getting credit card offers again.. That's your best option to me. Are you on public assistance? apply for food stamps, WIC (which is NOT welfare).. this helps a LOT with food till the child turns 5..it saved me as much as $300.00 a month on formula and that was back in 1994. Go to food banks and get food..talk to churches about helping with rent, utilities. With you being pregnant, they will be more willing to help you than some other person off the street..especially if they know you plan on going back to work after the birth. you didn't mention whether you were married or not but if not, you could qualify for low income housing and child care paid when you go back to work. Not a lot of details in your question but If you need to know on any of this, please reply and I will try to help you. I have dealt with all of this myself.
