Question

Help answer this question below.

I've just realized that there are angels out there detecting the indiscriminate down rating of answers and negating the negative? Thank you! Is anyone willing to take a bow or teach me how I can do this more systematically for others? I do when I notice.

    That is true Tom
but tonight there are also a group of people that are -4 and -5ing just for the sake of it. I had a nearly 2 year old question resurrected and it collected -17 points in minutes I think the sense of humour left Answerbag with a lot of the intelligent users.

I always knew that folks here were special.

    What a wonderful service.

I had never realized how trolling worked and was surprised to see its effects.

With so many friends on Answerbag, you just stepped right in and saved the day.

What a wonderful, caring community this is.

I usually start posi-trolling when I see questions and answers being downrated.
Nothing to it really, just start giving points!!
Did you get hit by a troll?
    Whooo Hoooo!! Time again.

People in Answerbag don't deserve a barrage of negative, indiscriminately given - points.
Double that when it comes to helpful, caring contributors as yourself, Tom.
    That's trolling at its worst.
To answer your question, just keep your eyes open and try to be fair to everyone as you always have done, I guess.

Posi-trolls are everywhere! I guess they just keep their eyes open and right wrongs when they find them. There are clubs on this site that do expressly that.

I was wondering about a couple of my answers being downrated. They'd already received positive points from people and I'd honestly tried to give good advice. Then all of a sudden a couple were downrated for no apparent reason. If people are just doing it to be jerks, then I'm glad someone is trying to ballance things out. :)

When someone mentions to me that they are having a troll problem, I visit their profile, click on their answers, click on their points column and all the negative ratings come to the top. I then go to each answer that was downrated and I uprate the answers. After I'm through with the answers, I repeat the same procedure for uprating questions.

I can't take credit for it today tomsims. But, I'm trying to answer friend's questions tonight so that's why I'm here. Looks like you got alot of response. Oftentimes, I think when negative ratings occur you end up getting more points because the angels are watching over you. Take care friend.

That happened to me once. Got a bunch of points for downrated answers all at once. Not sure how the person noticed/found them. I just normally upgrade when I see it on an individual basis. Don't worry about it, you know when people appreciate your input.

    Posi-trolls they call them/us.

I didn't even know I was one until someone else pointed it out.

How can you DR an answer that asks for an opinon? It just doesn't seem fair.

Thanks Tom for raising something very helpful and useful.

I will also try to sow encouragement wherever I see the seeds of discouragement. I trust most of us have gone through doses of these medicines and we fully understand the discouragement DRs bring to us. What concerns us is that these DRs are given without discretions and without justification.

To do it systematically is just simple. All we need to do is to sort the points of the answers in ascending order. The answers with the DRs will surface with the highest negative points right at the top.
