Lights! We don't put tinsel on ours (then again, ours is the size of your average midget)

I prefer lights. You come downstairs in the morning and crawl underneath the tree to switch them on, it feels Christmasy.

Both! Tinsel, when not overused, helps fill in the bare spots and reflects even more of the lights!

After putting tinsel on a tree I end up finding it scattered all over the house until about may of the next year. Lights are much prettier to me.

I believe the lights are more important. It makes the tree alive. You should check out this site that have very unique tree toppers, lights, ornaments and others for your Christmas tree at http://perfect-gifts-for-all.blogspot.com/

I think lights! plus tinsel is a hazard for my birds and other animals so I like to stay away from it.

I think getting a REAL Christmas tree is the MOST important thing. If you get a fake one, it shows you're doing Christmas just for the gifts because you're too lazy to care about the tradition.

After that, I don't think that it NEEDs any decorations. I prefer tinsel, though. Less tacky.

i think that they are both equally important, but they come in a close second to the angel on the top

Lights and cool decorations. The tinsel just makes it abit more shiny and reflective, and if it is too much or just "globbed" on, it can junk up the rest of the tree, IMHO.

In my opinion lights are much more important. They illuminate the tree making it much prettier at night.

Lights. One year, I decorated the tree with just lights and the angel, no tinsel or ornaments, and it was gorgeous when the lights were turned off.

Lights make or break the tree. Then comes the decorations. The angel on top is my favorite.
