Because it would've made a really boring story.
-
Probably because there would be no moral to the story as in, we all have our weaknesses....maybe :o)
-
I don't remember the why, but she couldn't (didn't want to) get her hands wet.
-
actually cobber has a point, but the truth is that if she had done so, there would be no Paris to kill him in his heel. You know, the myth had to go like this, Achilles had to die this way.
-
because as a baby, she was holding him by his heel to dip him in. she didn't get a chance to switch to her other hand when his father showed up. Another story goes that she was putting him over flames to burn away his mortality. and when she was holding him by his heel, his nurse came in and screamed. and his mother had to leave him with that one vulnerable spot. but not before she cursed them out. =0)
-
THAT WOULD MAKE HIM INVINCIBLE. Even the gods have weaknesses on Earth him having none would make for a bad bad story
-
because the mother was holding Achilles by the heel.
-
Because she had just done her nails. And because the myth would lose its beauty and sense of ultimate tragedy if he had been invulnerable.
-
She didn't have the same advantage of reading the story that you have.
