I think I'd be really good at being a counselor for teens. How does one get into that for a living?

Her Sara- With a newborn, I did a Master's Degree afternoons and evening and later became licensed as a psychotherapist in Mass. It all started when a group of teens at a residential school where I was teaching wanted me to lead a group for them. The school balked due to liability issues, but I realized my goal and then some. As far as income, well, I'm not there yet, but I do have a goal of a six figure income. It all takes drive, dtermination and staying focused on your goal...not for everyone, but it sure pays off in the end.

Sara, Summer Camp might be a start. leading and planning activites for the kids. then you can find out what classes you might have to take to become a Counseler and eventually an Organizer and then keep going. Go For it- Follow your Forte.

If you are sure you will enjoy the job, then ask a Social Worker they will be able to guide you correctly. Cheers.

social work is good but they dont' make a lot of money. If you got your masters in SW, you could actually open your own practice and set your own fees and of course MSW makes a lot more than BSW's. Also your pay will depend on who you work for. With a psych 0r sociology degree, you must get at least a masters to get a job with it and with soc. it is mostly used for teaching or research. psych. degrees usually go for PHD and become doctors so social work is your best option. Some SW programs have options like addiction studies/mental health studies which allow you to specialize and they may pay more.

lmao go for whatever you want to do in life but when they come to you for advice on how to deal with know it alls on AB you might wanna rethink telling them to just tell them "*u*k *o* even though they deserve it. still LMAO
