Yes my husband does work long hours and yes I do miss him, but I also understand that he has responsibilities to me and our children, he doesnt go to work to get away from us, he goes to work because he needs to, it doesnt make me miss him less, but I do understand why he does it.

My husband has been an OTR truck driver for the last 15 years. Sometimes I see him on the weekends and sometimes I don't....you get used to it after a while.

For many years I had my husband home 24/7 and now he's started working outside the home so even though he's only gone 8-10 hours, I really miss him since we had a terrific time together for 7 years. It's taken a bit of getting used to but I'm working on it LOL!

In Japan there is a saying, a good husband is healthy and away (Danna genki de rusu ga ii). (not home meaning at work). In my case, I work at home and my wife works at an office so she's home late at the end of the fiscal quarters. However, when I worked at a company, I was in before everyone and out after everyone left - making it about a 12 to 14 hour work day. In at 9AM and done at 9PM to maybe 11PM. It was also an hour commuting on the train to the office.
