My favorite place in New England is "Longfellow's Wayside Inn." They have an old gristmill that is breathtaking. The grounds are gorgeous and it is a very romantic place. Check it out, just wish I could draw or paint it. http://www.wayside.org/

Something abstract with a subtle blending of colors. Perhaps it would look like the Northern Lights or aurora borealis, if you need an idea of the concept. Subtle colors and abstract forms do not become as boring as typical pictures which leave nothing to the imagination.

Mount Rainier, the most beautiful mountain. Tahoma (Indian name.) I have written poems to it. I moved half way across America to be nearer.

Paint the one thing that speaks from your heart; the one that you feel you MUST paint, and not one that you only feel might have a good commercial subject matter. If the subject does not have any real emotional value for you, it will show in the painting. Think of the one spot that brings an 'Oh' of appreciation from you whenever you see it. If anyone has ever seen Mt Rainier lit up in the pink glow of sunrise, you'll know what I mean. It has to be something that really strikes you personally, for the painting to have emotion.

Tiresias - his transformation from man into woman and back man... I'd want to show the duality of sexuality of both sides and the prophecies of our relationships. I'd like to use deep tones like that of Caravaggio.

I would paint a portrait of my dad, who passed away a few years ago. As anyone who's lost a loved one will know, those feelings stay right there under the surface for a very long time. I think that the process of painting his picture would be cathartic for me, and would give me a lovely picture of him which would become a family heirloom so that one day when I have kids I can show them their grandad.
