    Yes. This is one of my favorite books. It is his thoughts and account of his 2 years at Walden Pond in Massachusetts, compressed into one calendar year.

    There some great stuff about not letting economic activity dominate your life.

    Walden is a concrete expression of what Emerson writes about in his essays.

    No, but I saw a pretty good play at my school about Thoreau. It was called "The Night Thoreau Spent in Jail." I would recommend it. Judging from the play, I would be very interested in reading "Walden"; maybe I'll add it to my wish list for the holidays.

    It's largely fictionalised, as Thoreau went to his aunt's for dinner almost every night and often spent the night there. His writings were highly romanticised.
