  • ITunes was pretty much required to put the songs ONTO the ipod. Now there is software called vPod that will allow you to get music onto it without itunes.. Check out the guide on how to do it here: http://mp3.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm?site=http://www.lifehacker.com/software/feature/hack%2Dattack%2Dthe%2Dselfsustaining%2Dipod%2D151662.php Edit: If you cannot even install the Ipod manager which is all that is needed to set the ipod into disk mode, you may want to try Yamipod, which is another piece of software which is standalone and does not require any apple software. You can get it here: http://www.yamipod.com/main/modules/home/ Also, here is a link to a comparison of diffrent Ipod manager software programs. I think you should be able to find one that will work well for you. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_iPod_Managers
  • On #1 of your web page given by the link: "Set your iPod as a removable hard drive. If you haven't already setup your iPod as a removable storage device, you can do so by plugging in your iPod and opening iTunes. I'm sorry if I missed something, but it seems I need itunes.
