You're reading What are the differences between American/European and Asian ideas of compassion and kindness? Are Europeans and Americans more compassionate than Asians, as many Westerners believe? (I ask, not to offend, but because I truly wish to understand.)

I certainly agree that people should not be judged by their nationality or ethnicity, that there are good and bad people in every country. However, in conversations with other people, I find that there is a lot of judging based on nationality. For example, the subject of China's relation to Tibet is often a hot-button topic, as well Japan's treatment of POW's during W.W. II. The wording of my question comes partly from this article.
