Why is the Atlantic Ocean warmer than the Pacific Ocean?

    Part of it is size. The Pacific simply is much larger which makes it possible do disperse temperatures more. Part of it probably has to do with far more ocean traffic going on between Europe and America. Finally, there may be more Oil Spills in the Atlantic.

    it would depend on where you measure the temp. if you measure the Atlantic off the coast of Florida, and the Pacific off Alaska then the answer is because of distance from the artic circle.
    If you took measurements off Main and southern California, I would say because the themometer was wrong.
    Are you talking about average temp? please be more specific.
