  • Warm up your car to normal temperature, locate the transmission fluid dipstick, wipe it off, reinsert and pull out again. Look for the fluid and make sure it's touching the proper fill level mark on your dipstick.
  • If the automatic transmission doesn't have a dipstick (later models do not) then you will have to remove a plug on the lower side of transmission case (not unlike manual trans). With the engine running, pull the plug( watch the exhaust pipe, on some models it is very close.) and if the fluid level is set there should be a little fluid dripping, if not add fluid in 1/2 pint incriments until fluid starts to flow from hole, replace plug. note: car must be level when checking and adding fluid.
