I just found out Fox have changed the way they show the Olympic medal tables. They now do it so it is ranked by total medals won instead of total golds won. Are Americans so self centred that they can not stand being second best to China?

I wouldn't say that all the Americans are self centered. It's more that Fox did this so people watching their station would get a better overall feeling of how the United States did. Fox news stations are know for bending/portraying the truth in ways that benefit the view of the US. That is what they did, they showed the results in a way that benefited the US, thus fulfilling their duty as directed by the higher ups. Not every station is like this. Personally, I'm a BBC news watcher/listener, as they are viewed worldwide in many different countries as being the #1 accurate source of news.
