What is the most spoken language in the world?? and the second most spoken language?

Hindi is next, as it is the official language of India.
Then
Spanish
English
ARabic
Portuguese
Russian
Japanese
German and
Punjabi.

naaa...only spoken by 20 million of us...we don't rank with the biggies....but we're moving in on the US...we're taking over your film industry, then we'll have you all speaking like us. LOL

BTW, I found the statistics online. English is not spoken as a first language as much as you might think. It is only when you add the second language speakers that its numbers go up dramatically. As a polyglot myself, I am more than aware of who speaks what in this world.

I would think it would vary depending on whether you were talking about the number of people who speak it, in which case it would be Chinese, or the geographical area of the globe where it is spoken, in which case I think it would be English.

I think its Chinese you know and then English - may even be an Indian language there but that is dictated by the high populations! :D

The most spoken language was Chinese the last time I checked. As for the second, I think it is Spanish. There are over 20 countries that speak it so that has to be a lot of people

my mom keeped saying english first so i wanted some more proof that chinese is first and english is second

first, consider the population in China alone then second consider the nations/countries who speaks chinese (ex. Taiwan, hongkong and parts of singapore and malaysia)

The most spoken language in the world, as a first language, is Mandarin. The second is English with Cantonese a close third.
