• Santa's logistical operations division prior to deregulation.
• In the summer (I think?) before Kindergarten, my Mom & Dad were driving their '85 Chevy Cavalier through Utah and I was the only son at the time, sleeping in the back seat. I was woken up by the sound of a crash, and it was that of a deer. We pulled to a rest stop and saw that three of the four lights were working, with some front fender damage. Nevertheless, the car was still drivable. Later, Mom told me that they were on a bridge that was so weak, if they had slammed on the brakes as soon as they saw the deer, the bridge would have collapsed below them and they'd have fallen down some gorge into a river. Mom said the gorge was 700 feet deep, and the river was another 500 feet deep. I find that preposterous now because if a bridge was so weak it was going to collapse under the pressure of a car slamming its brakes, the UDOT would have shut it down for maintenance work to re-strengthen the bridge. No river on Earth is 500 feet deep; certainly not any in the United States! As for the 700-foot drop from the bridge to the bottom of the gorge- I will buy that.
