Have you ever traveled across the continental US by train?

I traveled it by bus in 1972 and I heartily do not recommend it. I did travel from Toronto, Ontario to Vancouver, BC by train when I was about 3 years old.

Not entirely across the nation..when I was 10 and my baby sis was 3 my mom took us to visit relatives in Granite City, Illinois...so we took the train from L.A. to our destination. I think it took us 3 days or so. We loved the dining car especially..it was so fancy! :)

Not sure if it counts, but I did travel by Amtrak from New York to Lynchburg [Virginia], when I visited the states in 2006.

No, and I think you would have a difficult time finding someone that has done so. Train travel in the US, especially cross-country, is difficult at best.
