I traveled it by bus in 1972 and I heartily do not recommend it.
I did travel from Toronto, Ontario to Vancouver, BC by train when I was about 3 years old.
"No" ... just by car, big truck and airplane.
No, and I think you would have a difficult time finding someone that has done so.
Train travel in the US, especially cross-country, is difficult at best.
No
Not sure if it counts, but I did travel by Amtrak from New York to Lynchburg [Virginia], when I visited the states in 2006.
Not entirely across the nation..when I was 10 and my baby sis was 3 my mom took us to visit relatives in Granite City, Illinois...so we took the train from L.A. to our destination. I think it took us 3 days or so. We loved the dining car especially..it was so fancy! :)
Is there a safe/affordable place to park (overnight) near the Amtrak Station in New Orleans LA?

Why don't many Americans like trains but prefer the airlines' lousy fares, rediculous waits, rude personnel etc. Do they hate Amtrak?

Amtrack trains. Do they offer electrical outlets to charge cell phones and laptops at the seat? Or anywhere on the trains?

Have you ever ridden a super train, one of those really fast trains? Seems to be perfect in Japan.
