If you're going by the logic that inhabitants are called Canadians with an I, then following this, why don't we call inhabitants of the USA Unitedstatesofamericans?
If that happened then wouldnt canadians be called canadans? That doesnt have the same ring.

Canada means settlement or village. Canada came first, not the word Canadian. People from Thailand are not called Thailandian. They are call Thai. Americans could be called Amers and Canadians could be Cans
