Help answer this question below.

I love cookie/cake decoraing. but I have one problem. red food coloring. no matter what if I try to get a true red like a x mas red it is so bitter. I tried using cherry juice as a base, adding a bit of salt to get the bitter out. can anyone help me out?

    I use this special gel "no taste" food coloring from Sur la Table. I'm not sure, but I believe Wilson makes it.
