When ducks or geese fly in a V formation. Why is one side of the V longer than the other?

    Because there are more geese on that side.

    because the bird in the very front is taking all the stress, so they rotate the front bird and the V shape shifts all the time as the birds shift the lead bird to another bird.

    It still doesn't answer the question why one side of the formation is longer than the other.
