You have a battery that no longer holds memory. if you have an older type phone that has a Nikad battery, it builds memory everytime you charge it. Thats why you should run the battery all the way down before you charge it. Through time the battery will no longer hold a charge. Lithium ion batteries which are commonly used do not hold memory in its cells. This means that no matter where your battery life is you can put it on the charger and it will get a full charge. Or your battery might be so old, it just wont hold any charge. So yo u might want to replace the battery.

It is very possible that your battery is the problem and it is unable hold a charge. On the other hand, I have a moto Q 9C and often all I get is a blank screen... try removeing the battery for about 1 to 2 minutes. Replace it and try turning your phone back on. If this does not fix your problem, take your battery and replace it! Drjan

As a certified tree climber you can trust when I say if your battery is more than a year old, I would get a new battery.

I have a 3 year old Motorola phone that has the exact same symptoms. THe previous battery was ALWAYS run completely down. Recently it would no longer charge so I ordered a new battery. When I installed the battery, it said "charging" but very quickly said "battery fully charged". It went dead in 2 hours. Now, when it responds at all, it just says "Battery Charging". If it is not plugged in it does nothing at all. The phone is a discontinued model so no one will fix it. I think it is just garbage at this point but if anyone has any ideas, please share them.

The phone is only 3 months old. I bought it brand new from Radioshack, so no danger of it being a greymarkey or counterfiet good. Could something else have caused it to lose it's memory? It had no injury (it wans't dropped and it didn't get wet or anything).
