  • There are no leaders that govern all of Buddhism. However, different sects and schools have certain followers who are respected by other followers. For example, the Gelug sect of Tibetan Buddhism recognises the Dalai Lama as their religious leader. However, not all Buddhists sects recognise him as the absolute leader of Buddhism.
  • If you're asking about currently living leaders, the most well-known Buddhists include the Dalai Lama, Thich Nhat Hahn, Joseph Goldstein, and Ken Wilber. There are quite a few Western teachers who are well known in Europe and the U.S., a guide to some of them can be found here: http://www.dharmanet.org/teachers.html As Kim pointed out, there is no central leadership for Buddhism as whole, certainly nothing akin to the Catholic church or international Christian organizations.
