  • From what I know people arn't acutally 'burried 6 feet under' they just have to be burried far enough down to get a good cover of soil over the grave. and if they are going to have someone (wife/ husband) burried on top of them later then they have to be burried futher down so the other person can be placed on top.
  • Many years ago, graves were dug six feet deep to discourage bodies being dug up by animals. In recent years, sturdy caskets and vaults are often used in burial, so the deep depth is not needed. Most single graves today are dug four feet deep.
