Question

My standard after meeting someone professionally is to send a letter or card of thanks, is this still a good business practice or is that other person going to think I'm a weirdo?

I think it is very professional, but I understand your concern. Keep it short and don't get very personal.

    Yarnlady is happy every day

Your standard is the commonly accepted business practice, as long as it is a one time thing, and not continuous (except for a real estate agent) and the card or letter is short and to the business point.

My real estate contacts send greeting cards, refrigerator magnets and calendars on a regular basis to keep their names on my mind, as do the home improvement sources I have had contact with. I am a home and rental owner.

It makes you seem very considerate and appreciative. This is very good
