    Gone.

    Because they can feel the movement in the air, when your swiping wildly.
    They can also see you from pretty much every angle too.
    The best way to do it, is to let the fly settle and approach it with your newspaper, swatter or hand very very slowly. They won't know a thing until "SPLAT" lights out.
