Question

Help answer this question below.

My husband has a van and our friends take it forgranted that he'll help them move their stuff from place to place. I worry about his bad back and six day week so I have turned into a nasty beast when I get asked if he can help. Am I being selfish?

  • You are not being selfish, you are being protective, and that's a good thing.

Your friends need a gentle reminder and reality check - they can ask, but you don't have to say 'yes' to every request, not for the husband nor for the van.

No, as long as you only promise them the van and not his services.

If they can't accept that compromise, then that's their problem, not yours.

If anyone whined about such an arrangement, they'd be off the "able to borrow the van" list immediately!

Its his back and his van, its up to him to say yes or no, not you :-)
