Why are tall men more attracted to short women and vice versa?

I thinks it is part of an innate need to protect/be protected but I'm sure that is just my male chauvinism

I'm short 4'11. I look for a taller male because if i were to have a child I want him or her to be average.

I have always found that tall guy's are attracted to me I'm 5'4 on the petite side but very well proportioned.

I think guys like it because it makes them feel more like a man. but I know alot of guys who prefer taller women. I had a male friend who only dated girls his height or taller because it made him feel like he was dating a "supermodel." But I think for the most part they prefer shorter women to feel more masculine.

Keble Bolly-Jocksford I think that's a load of masculine reproductive organs. I like tall women because I wish I was shorter myself, and even if I was I would still prefer tall women.

I'm not part of the 'vice verse' when it comes to attraction to short men - being 5'11 I don't have too many options I'm tall and there is nothing I can do about that fact. I don't prefer to date short men it just happens. I have a guy now who is one inch taller than me now and I like it.... a whole LOT! :)

I'm 6'3" tall and I find taller women just as attractive as short women. My tallest girlfriend was 6' tall, shortest was 4'11".

I'm 4'11 and am married to a man that is 5'10. Not too much of a difference if I'm wearing my normal 3" heels. I think that if I had the opportunity, I would have dated a shorter man, but I met my husband first and love him for him and he does the same for me. We've been together 8 years through everything and height is only an issue when people are stupid and think that legs are somehow the only important part of a person.

I have two theories in this regard: 1) This may not be any more typical that any other variation in heights between couples. My theory is that if you looked at a large number of random couples the couples with an extreme difference in height would stand out. That extra attention may make them seem in disproportionally greater numbers, especially in one's recollection of that group. Second theory: Very tall men are going to look WAY taller than average height and even slightly taller women. Very tall women (I think?) tend to be a smaller minority compared to veryy tall men.

1-19-2017 Women have a strong preference for tall men, as long as they are not murderers or something. Tall women have no choice. They take any guy who acts friendly.
