Check the box marked "other". This a catch-all box, when a persons nationality is not known. No box? write unknown.

African-American is the only choice there, but I dont know any Black Americans who feel like they should check African-Americans...well, not many. I feel like thats more of the goverments doing or people trying to be overly P.C (P.C isnt as bad thing, but it can go too far). Lets just say it this way, when I walked around calling myself black, I was corrected by a white person who told me I was "African-American"...even though I have no real ties to my african "brothers/sisters". But its whatever,if you have to put a check in the box its either African-American or Other (if you arent striaght black).

As an Aussie, I find it incredible that you still have to tick these boxes in the US. The only time we have a check box for background is if those of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander background can get preferences in certain employment areas or help in education .

They, just like many blacks in the US check the "other" box.

They do not call themselves African Americans but when speaking they say they are Jamaican. If they have to check one of those forms where there are three choices white, black and other they will check "other".
