  • Check out Netflix for Woody Allen's "Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex * But Were Afraid to Ask" In one segment, He plays the part of a sperm cell. Hilarious! A zillion sperm cells are shotgunned out, in the hope that One of them will swim up the canal (see those wiggly tails?), into the uterus, and find the egg. Plenty of variables in that plan, and it's not inconceivable that the Lucky One takes its time.
  • An egg only lives for 12-24 hrs so has to be fertilised by the sperm in this time or it will died. It is best to have intercourse before you ovulate and on the day of ovulation that way the sperm will have time to travell to the fallopian tubes and be there waiting for the egg to be released. Sperm can live for up to 72 hrs so much longer than the egg. So it is possible to have intercourse and 2 or 3 days later release an egg and for sperm to waiting to fertilize that egg as they can easily live inside the fallopian tubes after sex.
