  • it's a lemon
  • What sort of TV is it (LCD, plasma, DLP, CRT) ?
  • Unplug the tv at the outlet. Wait about 30 seconds. Plug it back in. Turn on. If it works, great. Sometimes they need to be reset. Tv's need adequate air ventilation. Don't cover the vent openings with anything. My rear projection does something similar once in a great while. It won't turn on until I unplug it so it can do a reset. Think of it like rebooting a computer. Face it. Electronics wig out sometimes.
  • So did it work?
  • if the lamp light is on solid the lamp has failed, easy to replace
  • You need a new lamp. They cost about $250 and you can easily put it in yourself. Here is a website for warranty owners but I have ordered through them without warranty. http://www.mitsuparts.com/?mid=174142 A lamp will usually run for 4000 hours. When you turn your TV on and off it wears it faster. Just leave it on. Our first lamp lasted us seven months. Kinda ridiculous when you think about the maintenance on these fairly expensive tv's, eh.
  • If unplugging the TV doesn't work, then Answer 2 is probably correct. The constant red light is an indicator that your lamp has burned out. Just replaced one myself, it's simple-4 screws. Was advised to buy from Mitsubishi- there are cheaper ones but they may not be as good. I don't leave my TV on and my lamp lasted nearly two years.
