your image has been saved as a jpg file. only gif images are capable of movement. try bringing the image up in your files and then "save as"- choose gif. then upload it here again. hope this helps.

Ok you have to select the avatar, then save it to C drive, because that is the only drive that can make it move.

You need to get one that is animated, and not all of them are made so they will move if they are copied to another place. Obviously make sure it is copied or saved on your main drive (C drive for most) before you upload it here. It's experimentation I think. Some animations don't do their animating as well as others when moved. I got lucky. Good luck!

When you saved it, did you save it in .gif format, or .jpg? the .gif ones move.

For AnswerBag, you can use any animated Gif, downloaded off the net (google free animated gif) that has been sized to 64 pixels by 64 pixels. Not all of the avatars you find out there to your liking will be that size. A free online tool is available at http://www.gifworks.com/ to tweak the avatar to the right size if needed.

You should use an animated GIF file. To make sure that it will animate, drag the file from explorer and drop it on a browser window. It should animate if the file format is correct.

Try googling "animated avatar" there are thousands out there, and you can use any that are 64 by 64 pixels or less. Then simply bring it into your AB profile the same way you did your current one.

It happens all the time, you get a GIF avatar, it moved where you got it then when you upload it, it doesn't move. Why? because it is too big. Try finding one here (its where I got mine) and they SHOULD resize it for you at the end. http://avatars.jurko.net/

It needs to be exactly the right size to move. I think you gotta resize it to be 64px by 64px.

It may have been too big and answerbag resized it, which causes some .gifs to lose their "gif" quality. Here's a good site for avatars, find a more closely sized one. http://www.mikesfreegifs.com

Everyone is right. Gifs can be animated-gifs or regular gifs. Most programs that do automatic resizing don't save the extra frames of the animation. It simply resizes the first frame and saves it as a regular gif. Use one of the free online gif editors to resize it to 64px before you try to upload it.

This question is a duplicate of about 10 I found, all dealing with the subject. I suggest you go here http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/100625 . Most of the answers there are correct and there are some handy links for avatars as well as online tools to make any animated gif you like, work here at AB. That way you're not stuck with a avatar that is your second choice, because it's already resized for you on whatever site you take it from. You can use any gif of your choosing.
