    Dunno about his first name, but the family name may have been "Doody".

    Check the closing credits of the series. On the computer screen, mixed into the techobabble scrolling by is: "Brains is the illegitimate son of Howdy Doody".

    THe show never revealed his real name. He is said to be adopted by Jeff Tracy, and was always called by his nickname: Brains.

    Some fans have claimed his real name was Hiram Hackenmacker, but this is misleading.

    In the episode "Alias Mr. Hackenmacker", he is named Hiram Hackenmacker, but that was merely a "cover". He could not reveal his true identity to the outside world so he went under this alias.
