What color suit should I wear to a formal to coordinate with my dates chocolate brown gown?

Gold!!! Not tacky gold, nice gold, although if you wanna play it safe then just go for black. In this case black and brown go.

Wear a black or dark jacket with a matching chocolate brown vest underneath, The brown will distinguish that you are matching your date, but the jacket will tone it down a bit and help it from becoming overwhelming. Add a chocolate hankerchief sticking slightly out of the jacket's pocket too to accessorize. Patterns or contrasting browns look good too. Keep the shoes black though.
