Help answer this question below.

I just got the Sims, not Sims 2! How do u make a new family? I go on the neighborhood screen but there is no icon for create a family. How?

    Long time since I played the original sims, but there should be a family icon there somewhere (think it's near the top left of the screen). Check also your not in edit mode as it may not be available.

    Also make sure your not in a commercial area for example 'downtown' etc available in some of the expansion packs as you cannot create family's there.

    If the problem persists, try re-installing the game.
