None violent users should go to rehab, it would be a way to spare them the horrible withdrawal symptoms, let's not forget they are sick people not criminals. If they go to prison they will never be rehabilitated and will certainly learn violence.

illegal actions require imprisonment. When drugs become legal...no more prison. They should have thought about it first, maybe.

I'd say rehab...I mean, what's the point of having rehab facilities if you just send all the drug users to prison?

Until someone wants to stop, both are a fabulous waste of time, money and effort.

i am an ex drug user im not proud of that but i am a good person and in my view regardless, high or not,and you know what your doing when your high so you should go to prison and then rehab if your lucky enough to get in to one, i was on a waiting list for over a year!,
im sick of ppl blameing just the drugs for horrable crimes the person is responcible not the drugs.

I think a long term rehab... maybe for a year or longer to teach them how to live above the drugs!!! people who go to prison for drugs tend to get out and use again!!! They know nothing else!!! its sad!!!!

They could go to rehab while serving their sentence. Sometimes it's not an either/or choice, but both are options that could be taken.

The first step should be an admission in a drug center facility. I am sure that many programs and clinics have the required standards and provide all conditions for success. But it is important to understand that each type of addiction requires a specific treatment and the location itself has an important role. For many addicted ones a beautiful and peaceful environment is very useful. Each individual is different and has different needs. That is a reason to use a specific center and Drug rehab centers in Illinois can provide very good settlement conditions and more than this, with the best treatment results according to the specific condition that each addicted has.

I think using drugs itself should not be a crime. Why are we allowed to drink alcohol, get anti depressants, sleeping pills, etcetera, but put in jail for the use of cannabis or any other substance? I'm not saying that everything should be sold free, but I just can't get my head around why someone is considered a criminal for doing something to his own body.
If a crime comes from it, like violence after the use of cocaine for example, then the crime should be punished.
Of course there are many people who are addicted and who want help. This help should be available. Just like it's available for people who drink too much, eat too much, smoke too much, gamble too much.

Rehab in prison. That will be the only way they will stay in rehab. Even then the drug user will only stay clean if they really want to work their sobriety.

they should have their life taken away from them... I don't agree with this really, I am just saying what I think will not get me in trouble... If you want to know the truth I think they should pay outrageous prices for drugs that mimic the same effect but are legal... again that was as sarcastic as I can get... they should go about their personal matters as usual the way I see it

Okay, personally i think that once youre a drug user, you'll always be one. No matter how much you say you're not. OLD HABITS ARE HARD TO BREAK. In this case, i think that once youre a drug user, there's no piont of trying to FIX you up with Rehab, what a waste of time. You minus will go to jail and spend the time, you deserve. You know it's against the Law and you still do it. then you walk around asking for mercy when, you're about to go to jail.

- just my opinion. :)

Don't take away peoples lives... rehabilitate them and allow them to have a better life. Rehab could work for other things than just drugs too. You have to reprogram the mind essentially and start from step 1. Putting people in prison only brings resentment for the law and for themselves. They believe they are a bad person and have no desire to better themselves. They have to be shown the right way to live. Plus many people who commit crimes have a history of some sort of abuse. Whatever abuse that may have been. They need help, they need to be given care.

drug rehab centers, military schools or ranches are the most appropriate place for these peoples. Drug rehab centers provide expert assessment and drug evaluation rehab services that provide you with the answers you need to make informed decisions about your own, or a loved one's care. Also known as screening or evaluation, the alcohol and drug assessment process provides an accurate diagnosis along with recommendations for follow-up or care.

That depends upon whether or not they are addicted. This is much the same as those who use alcohol. If they aren't, just leave them alone. Seriously. There is nothing better or morally superior about preferring the buzz of beer to the buzz of marijuana, or even crack.

Aggh another question which, for me, has no clear answer. If they were busted for possession or something similar I would be more tempted to push them toward rehab. But I also know that unless they really plan on changing their act, the rehab is going to be a waste of money and resources. If they were a dealer, I would push them toward rehab on principle, just because all we need is one guy who's smart enough and he can make a lot of money in prison with contraband.

Prison makes drug addicts not cures them. Go to rehab and then face prison if one continues to ignore treatment.

Rehab is the best choice. My uncle was a drug user. He is now completely cured, but it was possible for him to recover from that horrible disorder only after he underwent some treatments in a rehab center namely Cliffside Malibu. So i am telling it through my experience of sight. You can even view testimonials related to it at,
