  • You need to drain the old oil from the drain pan. There is a threaded plug that unscrews. Next you need to remove the oil filter. It will probably require a filter wrench to unscrew it. It will have about a quart of oil in it, so watch out for spillage. Clean and reinstall the drain plug. Check the oil filter and be sure the rubber gasket came off with it. Lightly lubricate the new filter' gasket with a bit of oil and install it. It should hand tighten only 1/4 turn after the gasket makes contact with the base. Add oil. Start the engine and check for leaks. Turn off the engine and check the oil level with the dipstick. It's easy if you are careful. Just watch what you are doing and think safety all the time. I remove the keys whenever I work on my cars and sometimes remove the battery cable to prevent accidental starting. I always chock the wheels in both directions and use a safety block below any car I crawl under. Good luck
