If a man does that for a woman, I think he's being polite. But I really hope that men who don't do that are not seen as being impolite, rude or not being a "gentleman" enough. I believe that when someone thinks that way, that's being sexist. Women are perfectly capable of opening a door.

i would say helpful. i open the door for people... going in and out of starbucks for example.

Oh the deception these days! They're being a gentleman like they are supposed to be! And yes it is OK to be a straight masculine male who does straight masculine male things, including holding the door for YOU.
