Both of these pain reducers are also blood thinners, and if that's what's causing the reaction, you may be limited in your choices. Tylenol (acetamenophin) is also a blood thinner as well as most other non-prescription (and many prescription) ones. Your best bet would probably be to see a doctor and see what they suggest. They'd know a lot more about the topic than many of us on Answerbag :)
I suggest seeing a doctor! They will know a lot more than anyone here can offer you.
that being said, have you tried Aleve? it uses naproxen sodium and works by blocking the production of chemicals in your body called prostaglandins (for a short while) that is part of what causes pain and inflammation.

You're reading A few years ago, I found I'd become allergic to aspirin and, subsequently, ibuprofen. Does anybody know of any other pain-killers that work and that don't contain either of these two substances (and preferable chemical-free ones)?

Thanks for this info - it's given me a new avenue to pursue. The reaction I get from it, which is almost instant, was described by my doctor as angioneurotic oedema, which basically means my face swells up like a puffball and get itchy as hell. Anti-histamine helps relieve this, but it doesn't work quickly enough. Seeing a doctor isn't a possibility right now, for various reasons, hence my asking here.
