My cousin who's married to a mechanic recommended Dawn dishwashing liquid to me years ago. And it works 100% of the time.

Soak in a big dish full of milk for 24 hours. The milk should separate the stain from the fabric and then you can machine wash the garments.:)

lol i don't know i think it might work. I know that it gets tar off of my car by just a simple wipe. WD 40 might be greasy as well though. perhaps a non harsh solvent like IPA or Acetone. Wearing gloves is probably a good idea when using these chemicals though.
