• Let's see, should I even respond to your baseless accusations? I have never asked anyone to rate up my questions or answers. I have never rated anyone's answer down without a comment, and my comment has never been, "This is to keep my answer on top." I've no idea how anyone could employ bullying here, so if you could provide examples, it might be helpful in identifying my errant behavior. Sure, I like to engage those whose views or opinions I don't share, but I think that's kinda the purpose of a forum like this. I have also called people on mistakes, just like others have called me on mine. I've always welcomed someone who knows more than me to let me in on what knowledge and information they can. It seems that you are not so willing to participate in an open exchange like this, so who's really the one that doesn't belong here? I don't know what I've done to piss you off so, but I thank you for thinking I'm a well-respected member on AB. I do what I can. You made my day!

• The live in the sewer system of Answerbag. They used to be regular 'baggers, but long ago -- during the Dark Times of the Demon -- they made some poor choices. Now they live in darkness and nip at perfectly good answers with their mousy snouts, popping up thru storm drains to raid in raucous bands of 2..5 trolls. If you're very quiet at night, you can hear them singing their war songs in nattering little voices. They sort of sound like the Bee Gees with a bad attitude.

• I just realised I go my observation wrong. That troll-like thing wasn't in Twilight Zone - The Movie, it was in a film called "Cats Eye" by Stephen King, a film following the life & antics of a cat as it goes from one owner to another. Worth watching in my view.

• jenn - trolls are people who deliberately try to irritate other users any way they can. They ask loaded questions, then laugh when people get riled up. They reply to serious questions with lewd or profane answers. They love to spread hate and discontent. I read one troll's question on the Answerbag home page about having an affair with a newborn baby and burst into tears because it was so vile. I had to ask a friend if I'd read it correctly - it was unbelievable. So, unfortunately, trolls are reality. Anonymous, how'd you like it if someone called you "evil" because you didn't know something? That's really out of line, don't you think?

• Not only do the answers get pushed down, the percieved reputation of good users is damaged in the eyes of newer users who may believe that ratings DO matter, unfortunately this causes the newer user to give less credence to these answers that would help them, if not for the fact that some useless said the answer is not helpful. THAT does damage by depriving people of useful information they have every right to have.
