  • I've come across A LOT of christians like this...as well as A LOT of people of many different faiths, religions, ideas, morals etc. etc.
  • The bible repeatedly tells people to "judge" It simply says to Judge righteously.
  • Yes especially on AB.
  • Yes, you will find hypocrites in every walk of life, religion, profession, etc. If you are honest with yourself, you'll occassionally find hypocracy in your own actions and opinions. We're all human after all...
  • Yes, however, I have met many judgemental and hypocritical people from all religions, and people that have no religion.
  • yes. i love the judge not lest ye be judged from the king james version of the bible, its one of my favorites. ive known some outrageously hypocritical christians. i was raised southern baptist (the fire and brimstone variety). i played organ and piano for many church services in all types of denominations growing up - anglican catholic, methodist, episcopalian, presbyterian, protestant, unitarian universalist, etc. i found some of the born agains to be the most overbearing. i have a theory that the amount of guilt for the sins christians have committed in their lives is directly proportionate to their bible thumping and overzealousness. its because they cant forgive themselves or get over the shame that they go overboard on the salvation boat and focusing on "saving" and judging others. one would think that the belief in jesus saving them, having died for their sins, and gods forgiveness would bring them peace. but that doesnt always happen - its a long road to self-forgiveness and easing of the inner psychological turmoil within. i find its a common psychological phenomenon for people to attack those qualities in others that they dont like in themselves. i think one christian belief that has espoused the most intolerance is the belief that they are the only "true" religion in gods eyes and everybody else is going to hell. when you think everyone else is lost and damned, it follows that it would lead to judgmental behavior. christians have been amongst the most intolerant and murderous religions in history. i find it impossible to understand how can they could have justified killing and torturing others in the name of god? omigod - the crusades, the inquisitions (love those roman catholics!), etc. killed millions! playing devils advocate, ive met many kind, goodhearted, loving christians as well. and there is intolerance in people the world over in many other religions. but i have yet to meet a christian who doesnt give me a hard time for being a buddhist. i forgive you.
  • Yes! There are many people like that in my own family, and it drives me insane! Behavior like that is extremely hypoctitical and shows a complete lack of TRUE spirituality. When they say something particularly ignorant or hateful, my standard comeback is, "That's interesting. Did you learn that in church?"
  • At least a thousand times.
  • I find this amusing, my friend. While I don't justify Pharasaical people, everyone can evaluate someone's life as one does a tree with its fruit. It is not about condescending to them or being vain, but we are to speak the truth in love, and many times, the truth hurts, for it convicts. If you are not convicted, you won't ever see the need to change.
  • LOL. it's so funny this question just popped up. It JUST happened to me. I was talking to my mom and she is a christian. She asked me if I went to church to church and I told her no and that would she prefer I lie to her. She said "LIARS GO TO HELL. THE BIBLE SAYS LIARS GO TO HELL. I told her "it also says do not judge. she again, said I am not judging,. liars go to Hell,. I grew up in Christianity and this is the very thing that turned me away from it. I couldn't say or do anything without someone who proclaimed to spread love and compassion telling me I was wrong and a sinner and going to Hell. and if you call them on their being judgemental..they ALWAYS deny that they are wrong. And then christians want to know why nobody wants to get to know their God and their lifestyle. Gee, i wouldn't know
  • There are literally billions of Christians in the world today, so chances are, we run into every imaginable kind of Christian. Yes, I've run into overly judgmental Christians.
  • I haven't ran into one who wasn't.
  • Hmmmmm... ...seems you've described most of the ministers, pastors, preachers etc. on the pulpit today.
  • I get that people call themselves "christians" to describe their faith but no one is Christ-like. People would call me a christian based off of my beliefs but I do not like titles. They are just using a title to identify themselves to others but that does not mean they are perfect. None of us are perfect. I think the error is in those who expect people of ANY faith to not sin or to never do wrong. That is not possible and too high of expectations set by those who do not have faith. I go to church yet will smoke a joint once every blue moon or get a bit tipsy while riding around on the mower beheading grasshoppers as I mow. Does this mean I am not of faith or that I should not go to church? Nope We are all works in progress. We are all just flesh, weak and will fall short of the glory of God (for those who believe). God knows who has true intentions in their heart to live better and treat others better.. He does not judge us as we judge each other.. and thank goodness for that. I have judged and have no right to. I am sure every single person responding in this question has. We all make mistakes. People of faith or not.
