Question

Help answer this question below.

This is a difficult question: If a baby survives a late-term abortion, meaning it is alive outside of the womb, should the doctor be allowed to finish the abortion? Or should the baby be allowed to live? I seriously would like to hear thoughts on this...

Duh! The whole purpose of abortion is to make sure that the baby dies.

I'm sure those compassionate, baby-loving abortion doctors leave those tiny little boys and girls on a cold, steel table and hope for the best.

If the baby survives, and it is out then it has effectively been born. And at that point it is the Doctors responsiblity, job, to save the child. There is no more argurment about pro-choice, pro-life. It must be pro-life.

How about asking those that survived abortions what they think?

Abortion clinics are paid to kill babies and they take their work seriously. I don't think their customers are satisfied if they have to walk out of the clinic with a baby.

I am pro choice but I do feel that there should be a much earlier limit to when that choice can be exercised; as soon as a fetus is capable of surviving outside of the womb, and living a full and healthy life, the point for choosing to abort should have passed.

Once a baby is born, regardless of it's physical condition, if it is alive and breathing for itself, every effort must be made to save it - to do anything else would be murder whether through negligence or a physical act to end the life.

If it survives, to kill it would be murder. My neighbor has a "million dollar baby." That was how much they spent to save him after he was born at 23 weeks. He is a bright, loving and extremely engaging child. The only difference between him and your hypothetical child is that his parents REALLY wanted him. A parent shouldn't be allowed to kill their offspring just because they were careless about birth control and didn't really want the kid. Let someone else love him.

The baby must die with the head still in the birth canal. If the baby comes out alive, the Doctor cannot use measures to kill the baby.

Found this site. It was an eye opener
    http://members.tripod.com/~joseromia/survivors.html

Also found several reports that in the UK alone as many as 1 in every 30 abortions (aborted for medical reasons) at 24 weeks is born alive!
Search abortion survive if you don't believe me.

Do they still get paid if the baby survives? Seems like that dictates what they do.

i think that once the baby is outand it survives it should be able to stay alive and put up for adoption because there is plently of people outthere who want a baby that cant have one. and it would be murder to kill it once its out and still alive.

Actually, it's an easy question. The baby is born alive. It's a baby, and it's alive. Should the doctor be allowed to kill it? Of course not. First, do no harm. Isn't killing someone harm? It's murder.

Of course, I don't think late term abortion should be allowed anyway. Just because the baby is currently inside its mother doesn't make it less a baby and less alive. If the baby is viable outside the womb, it should be removed and allowed to live, not killed on its way out.

if the baby is not going to survive afterwards then i do not think it should be in pain, if the baby has even a small chance of living everything should be done to save it otherwise this is murder

    Mr. Meaulnes

Once the baby is removed, it no longer has to be the mother's problem, so there's no real reason to make any extra effort to kill it.

If the baby survives, and the doctors don't know with any certainty that it's going to develop with serious physical or mental disabilities from the failed abortion, then it may as well be kept alive and eventually put up for adoption.

You see, predicaments like this are why I myself am more in favour of mothers who won't or can't take care of the child they're expecting just carrying it to term and giving it up for adoption to begin with.

If it's alive and outside the womb, I'd say it should live. What would be the point in killing it? The parents can give the baby up for adoption if they can't keep it.

if its alive, it should stay alive.. the bub should be allowed to live its life as it is no longer the mothers problem.. someone out there will love the child..

if a baby is taken out of the womb alive and then killed it is murder and should be punished..

If the baby is alive, healthy, and viable outside the womb...the doctor would be killing a healthy, viable baby. So that would violate the Hypocratic (sp ?) Oath.
...and, besides that, it would be an unconscionable act.

I think if it's still safe for the procedure to go ahead then yes they should have an abortion because that's what they want/need.
Also if it has survived an abortion (this seems a little weird to me) then it is probably seriously injured and it would probably be wrong to keep it alive and in pain.

They stick a big needle inside, are you suggesting that if the baby somehow survives the poison, should the doctors try to revive the poisoned fetus after removing it?

Do you have any practical use for this information? :P

I find the distinction about being able to kill the baby until some arbitrary point a false shield against the fact that the baby is killed.

Late term abortion seems to say that as long as you don't have to see the child's face, it is still okay to slaughter the baby by sucking its brains out of its skull with a vacuum tube.

Killing can be justified based on what someone does (like murder) and it is killing, not murder. But when we kill because of who the person is (e.g. an unwanted unborn baby, an unwanted minority, a badly crippled person), it is murder. Killing someone for simply being in an unwanted class is murder. It is amazing that a terrible inconvenience (like having an unwanted child that would be given up to adoption) is replaced by murder.

Regardless of the trouble caused by an unwanted baby or unwanted human, it is still murder, plain and simple. And I am amazed that the physical position of a baby at full term can be used by people to say KILL IT or DON'T KILL HER.

The article is very out of date, it would be interesting to see what the results of the inquiry were.
