  • There is no, and there has never been, a specific order in which to play the games. The only difference in each game is the story(diiferent each time) and the variety of species of Pokemon.
  • As far as picking a starting Pokemon game, I generally suggest to my customers that they start with Pokemon Yellow (originally GBC). Not only do you get the original story (not completely necessary, but still a nice touch), but you also get that cute Pikachu following you around! Then, if you're a graphics nut (and if you're playing Pokemon, you are not), Ruby and Sapphire look the best. As far as story goes: Red/Blue/Yellow are the same story. Gold/Silver/Crystal are the same story. Ruby/Sapphire are the same story.
  • It does not matter if you are already a Pokemon fan and know the basic story. But if you are new to it, I suggest you start with Yellow. Then you could go onto Red and Blue, and LeafGreen/FireRed if you want. After that, I suggest that you move onto Silver/Gold/Crystal. These tell the second season story. After this, you could move onto Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald. If you are older (20-40), and you already know the story from countless weekends on the couch watching your daughter or son's Pokemon shows when they beg you, then you should definitely start with Silver/Gold/Crystal. These tell the second part and your kids can probably identify every episode with special events in the game. After that, go on to R/S/E for a slightly different perspective and the latest in Pokemon merchandise.
  • I would start with Fire Red or Leaf Green. They come with the original story and original pokemon. It is also farely easier than sapphire, ruby and emerald. However, if yu have a GBC get pokemon red, blue or yellow, they will teach the story. fire red, leaf green, yellow, blue, and red all somewhat go along with the first pokemon episodes (not the new ones w/all the stupid pokemon [poekmon 152+]) sorry if the ([]) confuses anyone
  • I think you should start off with pokemon ruby or sapphire trust me iam an expert at pokemon games
  • a Note: There are dozens of FAKE Pokemons games for the GameBoy series, even ones having the same title, but have a diffrent cover, the game is actually not the same as the original.
  • My favorite pokemon games are Silver and Gold because it is red/blue x 2. Then go to ruby/sapphire. If you want, you can get fire red and leaf green but I wouldn't. Because it's the same as the first games.
