No, but it makes it very hard to keep things organized on the site if people do that. I can handle a couple as a good natured joke, but people really should make the effort to post questions in the appropriate category.

No, they should maybe consider doing it, I know some that do it so that they can get moderations points.

No , it just means that we have to come along and clean up after you.

We also gain points for doing your housekeeping.

Maybe for putting adult questions in other categories, but otherwise, probably not.

It would be difficult for the staff to determine whether or not a certain user is "purposely placing their questions in the wrong categories." So, I don't think it's Penalty Box offense.

In general, not at this time. But as in all things, if you do something often enough, and on purpose to benefit others or yourself, as in for moderating points 'farming', yes you can be. It's no different than, let's say, writing in all caps not being an automatic reason to be put in the PB, but if you do it consistently, yes you will go in the PB.

They can place you in the PB for what ever reason they deem valid! It's like watching the Federal Reserve bank at work! In other words anything goes!

In reply to your question and to Andy's reply, allow me to say that it has become quite common lately. There is a reason for it, certain categories are being guarded by down raters so all we can do is post our questions in similar categories though not the correct ones.

If any of you have an alternative for this problem, please post a comment I will highly appreciate it.

    Great question.
