Have you ever let your answering machine take the phone call while you are at home? If so, why?

Yes I have - if we are in the middle of a family meal and the phone rings we ignore it. Sometimes I just don't want to talk to anybody so I let the answer machine do its stuff then too.

I often work from home so sometimes it's head down and focus on what I'm doing. I can always ring them back when I'm finished.

Yep. Meal times are inviolate. We have little enough time as a family without interruptions during the meal as it is.

I screen my phonecalls all the time. I don't like answering the phone if I don't know who it is -- which is why I love caller ID on mobile phones. If it's someone I want to talk to, I'll answer the phone. If not, I just let the answering machine get it.
